New SAGE group plans vigil for prostituted women

SAGE leaders in Springfield this May, with organizer Rachel Ramirez.

CCH organizes women survivors of prostitution, many of whom were homeless when they were trafficked. Working with organizer Rachel Ramirez, the women recently started a leaders’ committee called SAGE (Survivor Advocacy Group Empowered).

For those women who are still out there suffering, and for those who have passed away, SAGE will hold a vigil at 5:30 on Wednesday, August 22 at Fourth Presbyterian Church located at 126 E. Chestnut.

We want to let the world know that we have not forgotten these people, that we care who they really were, and have compassion for them and their families.

For those who are still held in the sex industry, we want to help them in any way possible to flee from the dangers they are in and away from the traffickers, offering encouragement and direction.

About the blogger:

I have experienced homelessness and being trafficked, with all of its abuse and dangers. I know the pain of the women who are still out there.

Life is better for me today, and I am grateful for the help that people have given me. Now I want to give back and help others.
