Matching
Many employers will match charitable gifts made by employees, employees’ spouses, or retired employees. Ask your employer about their matching gift program. Any forms in need of verification by CCH can be sent to Michael Nameche at michael@chicagohomeless.org.
Stock Donations
Donating your stocks allows you to advocate to prevent and end homelessness while saving on taxes. You can use this secure online giving tool to donate your appreciated stock in about 10 minutes and learn more about the benefits. All the information about CCH including nonprofit FEIN (36-3292607) and brokerage information will be available.
Build A Legacy
You can include a gift in your will to CCH and create a legacy advocating for public policies that curb and can ultimately end homelessness. Our partnership with FreeWill: a free estate planning resource enables you to write your will and make a legacy gift in 20 minutes.
You can also speak with your attorney to set up a bequest. They can help you include Chicago Coalition for the Homeless in your estate plan. Below is some basic bequest language to assist you and your attorney:
I hereby give, devise and bequeath [percentage] to Chicago Coalition for the Homeless, a nonprofit organization located at 70 E. Lake Street, Suite 720, Chicago, IL 60601, Federal Tax ID #36-3292607, for Chicago Coalition for the Homeless’ general use and purpose.
Have you already included a gift to Chicago Coalition for the Homeless in your will? If so, please fill out this form so we could thank you and update our records.
Do you have an IRA, 401(k), life insurance policy, or any other assets not included in your will? These are called non-probate assets, and you must plan your beneficiaries for them separately. You can use FreeWill to name Chicago Coalition for the Homeless as a beneficiary of one or more of these assets to build a legacy with us.
In-Kind Donations
CCH has a limited capacity to accept in-kind donations (food, clothing, care packages, etc.). We recommend getting in touch with GiveNKind. They connect goods with nonprofits to benefit our community and our environment.
Furniture and household goods donations can be directed to the Chicago Furniture Bank. They distribute donations to families and individuals transitioning into supportive housing.
Volunteer Opportunities
Due to the nature of our work, we have very limited opportunities for in-person volunteering. Our Associate Board welcomes young professionals dedicated to making a difference in their community. Members plan and run special events and fundraisers, raise awareness, and support our advocacy efforts when possible. Complete this interest form to learn more.
