Stock Donations
Donating stocks allows you to avoid capital gains tax and often take a charitable deduction for the full value of the asset. If you would prefer to make your donation through your broker, access our transfer information from the link above to notify Chicago Coalition for the Homeless of your gift.
Qualified Charitable Distributions
If you are 70.5 or older, giving from your IRA can help reduce your taxable income — and for those over 73 who must take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), an IRA gift is a simple way to fulfill it! Donor-Advised Funds
Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs) are investment accounts for the sole purpose of supporting charitable organizations today. The secure DAF link below:

Build A Legacy
You can include a gift in your will to CCH and create a legacy advocating for public policies that curb and can ultimately end homelessness. Our partnership with FreeWill: a free estate planning resource enables you to write your will and make a legacy gift in 20 minutes.
You can also speak with your attorney to set up a bequest. They can help you include Chicago Coalition for the Homeless in your estate plan. Below is some basic bequest language to assist you and your attorney:
I hereby give, devise and bequeath [percentage] to Chicago Coalition for the Homeless, a nonprofit organization located at 70 E. Lake Street, Suite 720, Chicago, IL 60601, Federal Tax ID #36-3292607, for Chicago Coalition for the Homeless’ general use and purpose.
Have you already included a gift to Chicago Coalition for the Homeless in your will? If so, please fill out this form so we could thank you and update our records.
Do you have an IRA, 401(k), life insurance policy, or any other assets not included in your will? These are called non-probate assets, and you must plan your beneficiaries for them separately. In-Kind Donations
CCH has a limited capacity to accept in-kind donations (food, clothing, care packages, etc.). We recommend getting in touch with GiveNKind. They connect goods with nonprofits to benefit our community and our environment.
Furniture and household goods donations can be directed to the Chicago Furniture Bank. They distribute donations to families and individuals transitioning into supportive housing.
Volunteer Opportunities
Due to the nature of our work, we have very limited opportunities for in-person volunteering. Our Associate Board welcomes young professionals dedicated to making a difference in their community. Members plan and run special events and fundraisers, raise awareness, and support our advocacy efforts when possible. Complete this interest form to learn more.
