State budget update: Funding for homeless services are holding strong, but in need of a revenue source.
Please take action! http://bit.ly/5ptaxextension
Legislation that passed the House and is headed to the Senate for a vote includes the following: funding for services to homeless students at $1.5 million; homeless youth programs at $6.6 million; homeless prevention grants to at-risk families at $6 million; and emergency shelter and transitional housing at $9.4 million.
However, the Illinois Legislature must vote to maintain the temporary income tax rate of 5% – its current level – for these programs and all other human service and education programs not to face severe cutbacks. Please contact your legislator today. http://bit.ly/5ptaxextension
