Voter registration: Grace period registration now available

Those who have not yet registered to vote in the Tuesday, Nov. 4 election can register during “grace period” registration allowed in Illinois.

For more information about registering in Chicago, information is available from the Chicago Board of Elections. Information about registering in suburban Cook County is available from Cook County Clerk David Orr’s office. Throughout the state, registration is overseen by each county clerk’s office.

During the regular registration period, CCH organizers trained to properly register homeless voters. We also advised service and shelter providers seeking to register their clients and residents. More information is available from Senior Community Organizer Jim Picchetti.

The regular deadline to register voters in Illinois was Tuesday, October 7 until 11:59 p.m.

About 140 homeless Illinois residents were registered by CCH organizers since this summer.
