Outerwear retailer Zumiez generously donated 120 blankets and 288 coats for women, children and men.
CCH community organizers will be distributing the much-needed outerwear during their regular outreach in Chicago shelters.
This is the ninth year in a row that the Zumiez Foundation has shipped hundreds of outerwear items, including socks, gloves and hats, for people coping with homelessness in Chicago.
“The people we work with are grateful to Zumiez for its long-term generosity,” said Jim Field, CCH’s associate director and director of organizing.
Distribution of the outerwear began last week and will continue through January.
Education organizer Dasia Skinner is shown delivering coats to some of the mothers and children who live at Good News Partners’ family shelter in the North of Howard neighborhood.
The Zumiez Foundation reports donating more than 180,000 items in 2012 to more than 180 organizations in 21 states.
