Outreach to Homeless Families

No one understands homelessness like someone who has lived through it.

Chicago Coalition for the Homeless does outreach at family and adult shelters, transitional and interim housing, and single-room occupancy (SRO) facilities. We are present at more than 20 facilities across Chicago, talking to people about their experiences with homelessness and making plans for how we can help them make better lives for themselves.

During these visits, CCH also offers practical information about homeless children’s rights, such as free transportation to school, and informs low-income adults of their eligibility to apply for charity care from non-profit hospitals.
