Action needed: tell the governor to fund homeless youth program

In Illinois, there are nearly 25,000 homeless youths.

Providing housing, education and meaningful work experience to these young people is key to their survival and essential for them to become productive adults. For those reasons, CCH is asking Governor Blagojevich to include $15 million in his 2009 budget to support those needs. This would include an increase of $5 million for youth housing programs; $2 million for youth transitional jobs pilot programs; and $8 million to school districts for the education of homeless children and youth.
