Deborah Harrington, president of the Woods Fund of Chicago and a
board member of the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless, has published a
letter to the editor in the Dec. 11 issue of The Chronicle of Philanthropy. The Woods
Fund of Chicago has been a long-time funder of CCH's community
organizing of people experiencing homelessness.
Harrington writes that "community organizers bring people together," noting that "when
people come together in the spirit of democracy to identify and work on
common problems, the best solutions rise to the top, universal values
are forged, and nations get stronger."
